The migration journey of the pearl mullet, which lives only in Lake Van in the world, to fresh waters due to the breeding season, started with a record intensity this year. The difficult journey that the pearl mullet, an endemic species of Lake Van, started by swimming against the water for the purpose of reproduction was realized. In order to protect fish, which are the source of income for approximately 20 thousand people, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, gendarmerie, police, coast guard and municipal police teams are on alert in the downstream areas of the stream. During the inspections carried out with the participation of Van Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Turgay Şişman, the teams are on duty day and night despite heavy rain and difficult terrain conditions. While it is noteworthy that this year's migration was much more intense than previous years, the density of fish schools combined with the flow of water surprised the teams working in the field. In order to prevent illegal hunting, the teams tightened their controls and blockaded the region so that the pearl mullet could reach the breeding grounds without being harmed. "Балыктын укмуштуудай популяциясы бар." Van Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Turgay Şişman, who examined the downstream regions of the stream, stated that this year's migration was much more productive than previous years. Provincial Director Şişman said, "The Pearl Mullet hunting ban started between April 15 and July 15 and continues now. Together with our teams, we checked the areas where fish come to the field, especially to lay eggs. There is an incredible fish population; we are very pleased with this situation. Last year it was not this much, this year there is a very intense participation. When the temperature in our rivers and fresh waters reaches 13 degrees, the migration movement of animals to lay eggs begins. In this process, both a visual feast and "The fish lay their eggs," he said. "There is also an increase in the size of fish." Stating that the physical development of the fish in this year's migration was at a satisfactory level, Şişman said, "We saw that the situation is very productive in the examinations we made together in fresh waters. Everything is going positive for the fish." Reminding that the fight against poaching continues uncompromisingly, Şişman continued his words as follows: "I would like to remind you again that the ban continues. Pearl mullet hunting is prohibited between April 15 and July 15. If we detect illegal hunting, administrative fines are imposed and the decision is made to confiscate the hunting equipment and transfer the property to the public.
